Ice Age 2: a review

Panod and I are still a little under the weather. Taylor is feeling fine and unaffected, but Ian has a deep chest cough. We decided it would be best to take it easy this morning and to do something a little low-key this afternoon, if we were all up to it. The neat thing is, we received a $25 gift certificate to AMC theaters from Simon Delivers yesterday with our groceries. I LOVE Simon! Having that in hand, it raining outside and wanting to do something low-key added up to going to see a movie this afternoon. All four of us, even! In looking at our local AMC theaters we realized that the one in the Mall of America is an AMC and they were playing Ice Age 2 – it was off to MOA! The movie ended up being terrific! Ian and Taylor both laughed throughout the entire movie and it held their attention very well. I heard more than one person say that it was better than the first one, and we would agree with that statement. I’d put the laugh-factor up to near Wallace & Grommit: Curse of the Ware Rabbit. It was that good! After the movie, we didn’t hang around the mall for too much longer. I did manage to drag the family over to Teavana so that I could get some bubble tea for Panod and I. If you’ve never heard of this fun concoction – it is freshly brewed iced tea (Teavana is nice enough to let you pick which tea you use), mixed with cream and sugar and tapioca pearls. Now, the tapioca sits on the bottom of your cup and it looks kind of like….well… bubbles. They then stick the widest straw in the cup that I’ve ever seen and that allows you to suck up and chew on the tapioca, while you drink the iced tea. It is a little strange to try at first, but it was exactly what my soar throat needed today. On the way out, we stopped at the Rainforest CafĂ© to look at the aquariums and little toys that they sell for kids.

It is still raining out right now, and the kids are headed off to bed. Here’s to some sunshine and illness-free days this week!
