Snow Day!

Unbelievable! We measured a foot of snow in our yard this afternoon! And the drifts got to nearly twice that! When my alarm went off at 6am this morning, I immediately rolled over to look out the window to see if it had actually snowed last night. The thing was, I couldn't see out - it looked like there was snow covering the window. Then I got up to look out and realized that the window was not covered by snow, it was snowing so hard that you couldn't see past the end of our roof! It really was something we have not seen here in quite some time - there was even thunder snow! Many metro area schools closed - Minneapolis was 2 hours delayed, Roseville closed and MnDOT was advising no travel, so we made the decision to keep the kids home, even though St. Paul did not cancel classes. Just a few minutes after we made that decision, I was told that CVA was closed. And when Panod decided to stay home, that made it official....SNOW DAY!! The kids were thrilled! The snow didn't really start to end until after lunch, so we had to wait until then to go out. It ended up taking us several hours to clear the driveway while the kids made forts and threw snowballs at each other. After we came inside, Taylor declared snow days as, "The best kind of days, ever!" Here's a link to some pictures I took of our snow day.
